Our School History & Progress

We opened our doors in February 2018 with nursery school students, ages 3-5 years. We started with preschoolers to be able to impact them through early intervention. The nursery school consists of three classes: a baby class (3 years old), a middle class (4 years old), and a top-class (5 years old).

In 2019, we launched our primary (elementary) school with a Primary 1 class (1st grade). The P2 class (2nd grade) was added in 2020, and the P3 class (3rd grade) was added in 2022. Our plan is to expand our school by one grade level each calendar year until we reach P7 (7th grade), which is the final year of primary school in Uganda.

Teacher Caroline's Spotlight

“I would like to change the nation by making education available to everyone. I have helped my students to learn how to read, write, and how to speak English. This makes me very proud and helps our school to get recognition in the community. To work in the field of education, you must love your job and the people surrounding you. When the kids are treated well, it is easier to bond with them. Apart from classwork, I also like to teach kids how to behave better. I dream that our school will keep growing and one day we will have a second building to accommodate more students.”

Success Story

“Rukundo International is the best school. They know how to care for children, and the buildings are modern. We are still constructing some classrooms in the primary building, but so far, it’s the best school in the District.”

Alex, PTA Chairperson

What We Need

We must continue to fundraise to build classrooms, a computer lab, a library, and additional toilets for our primary school. We also need to add a busing service for our students and construct a boarding facility.

The best way for us to do this is to recruit 23 more monthly $1 per day donors to meet the school’s operating budget.
